One of the decisions taken by the Provincial Chapter of July 2020 was that of organising one half-day retreat for the brothers of the Province in a particular friary during some months of the year. The first retreat was organised on Saturday 31 October AM in the church of Santa Marija ta’ Ġesù (Ta’ Ġieżu) in Rabat.
It consisted of a meditation preached by Monsignor Joseph Sultana, Archpriest of the Gozo Cathedral, on the theme of Jesus giving “bread” and “feeding” us through His Word and Eucharist, so that we may also become “bread” for others in our witness and ministry. The texts were chosen from the Gospel of Mark. After the meditation the brothers remained for some time in adoration in front of the Eucharist, praying in a special way for vocations.
Because of the current situation the brothers met according to strict criteria of social distancing in the church, grouped according to the respective fraternities, and did not stop for lunch together, but each fraternity returned to its own house. The initiative was simple and short, and it is hoped that it will be continued regularly in the future.
