The Capitular Assembly convened at Mt St Joseph Retreat House, in Mosta. We started with the celebration of the Eucharist at 9:00am. Afterwards we proceeded to the Capitular Hall where the Moderator, Br Noel Muscat, did the roll call and read the Rules of Procedure. Messages from Mons. Joe Bonello, Mons. George Bugeja and the Minister Provincial of India were read out.
The Minister General and President of the Chapter, Br Massimo Fusarelli OFM, passed on his message to us. He reflected on the Chapter’s motto “Be strong and bold” (Deut 31:6) and outlined various areas where he invited us to live out this spirit. The message from the Minister Provincial, Br Anthony Chircop OFM followed. He reviewed the state of the Province, in its diverse aspects, and expressed his vision regards our future. After a short break, Br Ramon Farrugia, Provincial Bursar, and Mr Franco Sciberras, financial advisor, gave an account of the financial situation of the Province.
It was then time to divide ourselves in 3 groups and share our reflections upon the reports that were presented. At 12:50pm we convened together again at the Capitular Hall and each group gave a summary of their discussions.
Our first day of Chapter was concluded at 13:15 with lunch.
