The Maltese-Franciscan Province present at the CEM Assembly in Lisbon: Strengthening Bonds within the Franciscan Conference of Southern Europe

Friar Ramon Farrugia OFM is currently representing the Maltese Franciscan Province in Lisbon, where he is attending the Assembly of the Provincial Ministers of the Conference of Southern Europe as a delegate of the Minister Provincial.

This significant gathering brings together the Franciscan Provinces of Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Albania, with Malta invited to participate as a guest Province. The assembly serves as an important occasion for dialogue, reflection, and collaboration among the friars of Southern Europe, united by the spirit and mission of Saint Francis of Assisi.

Throughout the assembly, the participants discussed several key themes, including the outcomes of the Chapter of Mats and the recent Plenary Council of the Order. The friars also focused on ways to enhance cooperation between the Provinces.

A dedicated session was held on vocation ministry, during which vocation animators from the various provinces shared their experiences and the work being carried out within their regions. Their contributions highlighted the value of collaboration and mutual support in promoting and nurturing vocations across the conference.

The presence of the Maltese Province was warmly welcomed by all participants. There is a strong sense of hope that Malta’s ongoing involvement—as a guest at this stage—will continue to foster closer relationships and greater collaboration with the member Provinces of the Conference of Southern Europe.
