On 29 December, in our Franciscan church of Ta’ Ġieżu in Rabat, three temporary professed students who are currently in our Gozo friary and studying at the Diocesan Seminary in Gozo, namely Brs. Darren Abela, Christopher Bilocca and Andrè Bonaci, received the Ministry of Lectors during a Mass celebrated by the Minister Provincial Br. Anhony Chircop. The Mass was also concelebrated by around 20 brothers who came to Rabat with their relatives for the annual Christmas reception that the Franciscan Province offers to parents and relatives of the brothers. The Ministry of Lector is one of the two instituted Ministries of the Church, together with that of Acolyte. They are normally received by candidates to the priesthood during their period of studies, with a minimum of six months’ time between the reception of the Ministries of Lector and Acolyte.
