His Grace Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna has appointed The Rev. Fr Anthony Chircop OFM as Diocesan Promoter of the Cause of Blessed Ignatius (Nazju) Falzon.
The appointment, made by decree dated 30 June 2026, follows a request submitted by the Minister Provincial of the Order of Friars Minor, Fr Ramon Farrugia OFM, which the Archbishop has accepted.
The decree also clarifies that, as there are currently no procedural acts taking place in the Cause, the title of Vice-Postulator is not to be used. Instead, Fr Anthony Chircop will serve as Diocesan Promoter of the Cause, with the mission of fostering and coordinating devotion to Blessed Ignatius (Nazju) Falzon.
In this role, Fr Anthony will oversee initiatives aimed at promoting greater awareness of Blessed Nazju Falzon’s life, virtues, and spiritual legacy. His responsibilities include encouraging devotion among the faithful, maintaining close collaboration with the local Church, and coordinating publications, commemorative events, and other pastoral initiatives that help keep the memory and witness of Blessed Nazju alive.
