Because of the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic and the atmosphere of uncertainty in which the whole world suddenly finds itself, the General Definitory has rescinded the decision (taken during its meeting on July 19th, 2019) that the next General Chapter of the Order would be held in Manila, the Philippines, during the month of May 2021.
In the coming weeks, the General Definitory will initiate a process of dialogue and discussion with the OFM Conference Presidents in order to study and refine all the elements that will allow the General Chapter to be celebrated in a manner appropriate to the emergency situation in which we find ourselves.At this time, and until further notice, the body responsible for the preparation of the General Chapter continues to function.
