Provincial Chapter: Fr. Anthony Chircop is the New Minister Provincial

On the 21st July, we gathered at 4:00pm for our second day of our Provincial Chapter. Fr Jeffrey Scheeler commenced our gathering with a prayer and was followed by the Roll Call and the reading of the minutes. The minutes were approved by a show of hands. The secretary read out the letters to be sent in reply to the greetings received and read our yesterday.

The General Visitator read out his report to the Province. No interventions were made after and so, at 5:10pm, we had a coffee break. We resumed our work at 5:30pm. Br Walter outlined the electoral process and we invoked the Holy Spirit through the hymn Veni Creator. We then gradually elected the new Provincial Administration in a process that lasted three hours. The following officials elected were:

As Minister Provincial, Fr Anthony Chircop.

As Vicar Provincial, Fr Marcello Ghirlando.

As Provincial Definitors: Fr Martin Coleiro, Fr Ramon Farrugia, Fr Stephen Magro, Br Loreto Zerafa.

We closed the elections by thanking God through the chant of the Te Deum.

The new Minister Provincial, Fr Anthony Chircop, presided Vespers (8:45pm).

We closed the day with refreshments, which commenced at 9:00pm.
